Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a progressive educational institution dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in Engineering and Technology. VIT was founded in 1984 by Dr. G. Viswanathan, a former parliamentarian and minister in Government of Tamilnadu. . It also expands to research in basic sciences, applied sciences and biosciences. Emerging fields and key hi-tech disciplines of the future are focused on. It encourages its researchers to participate in a wide range of international research collaborations. VIT's extensive network creates unique opportunities for conducting and supporting research, particularly in inter- and multi-disciplinary areas.

VIT has nurtured the vision to evolve as an institution with international character. VIT has signed over 200 MoUs' with International Universities and Institutes of high repute to collaborate in research and academic activities. A full-fledged International Relations Office has been established to help in the internationalization efforts. VIT has International Students from over 40 countries pursuing various degree programmes. VIT assists foreign students and facilitates their social and cultural integration.
